Actress/Model April Scott shares her hit television game show behind-the-scenes experience with readers in her newly published book Behind the Briefcase; the Unauthorized Guide to the Hit Show “DEAL OR NO DEAL.” Briefcase #14 for 38 episodes of the hit new show, Scott moved to Hollywood from Campbell, MO to make it big. Previously, she traveled the beauty pageant tour in the heartland, competing in over eighty local pageants and taking home over 45 crowns and numerous trophies.
Scott describes her first audition for one vacant spot on “Deal or No Deal”. “I arrived at a studio in Hollywood wearing what they had instructed me to: a short skirt, high heels, and a bikini underneath my clothes.” Scott was shocked to see “there were over 50 girls there for one spot. Just another cattle call.”
She describes in her book the dressing room, better known as “The dungeon”, which would dip down to 50 degrees on occasion. She reveals the mystery of “the rising hemlines -- as the ratings went up, so did the hem lines.” Scott also doesn’t miss “the escorts to the restroom, it was so embarrassing.” The big show secret -- “the banker, who is he and does Howie really talk to him” -- you’ll have to read the book to find out.
Although Scott enjoyed her time on the show, she was forced to make a very difficult decision. The contract for season two was too confining and didn’t allow her to follow her dream of acting. Scott walked away to pursue other acting job opportunities and has since starred in the upcoming films “The Penthouse”, “I Do…I Did” and “Nitetales”.
In addition to revealing her personal experiences and observations during her time at ”Deal or No Deal,” Behind the Briefcase provides Hollywood insider advice and insight on casting, auditions and call backs.
